COOKEVILLE — In their ongoing effort to support the works of Tennessee Bible College, The Ladies Associates of Tennessee Bible College recently gave a donation of $5,000 to the school.

Malcolm Hill, president of TBC, said, "The Ladies Associates have been a blessing to us. We've had high utility bills at the school, and they wanted to bear some of that burden. This donation of $5,000 is greatly appreciated and will be utilized for that purpose."

Malcolm Hill, president of Tennessee Bible College in Cookeville, accepts a donation of $5,000 from members of the Ladies Associates of Tennessee Bible College. They are, from left, Beth Whiteaker, Bessie Graham, Hill, and Billie Hill.

The funds were generated mostly through the Ladies Associates' cookbook sales. Still available are The Big Blue Book of Cooking and Second Helpings, which are $10 each and may be obtained by calling the TBC at 526-2616 or visiting the campus at 1616 McCulley Road, Cookeville.

The Big Blue Book of Cooking includes recipes for a large variety of main dishes, appetizers, soups, salads, breads, beverages and desserts for all occasions, plus an appendix with household hints, party planning guide, substitutions, equivalents, stain-removal tips and more. Second Helpings features new recipes not found in the first book.

"It's a fantastic gift for new brides, graduates or a single person moving out on their own," said Lois Irby of Algood, secretary at TBC. "Mother's Day, Christmas, birthdays...any occasion. And the books contain so many other things besides just recipes — household tips, poetry, Scripture, weights and measures, conversions and various things you would use in the kitchen."

The Ladies Associates of Tennessee Bible College is an organization dedicated to supporting TBC through fundraising, assisting in school activities and promoting camaraderie of the faculty, students and their families. The Associates have been active in various ways since 1985.

TBC, which trains students to become preachers, missionaries and Christian workers, offers a bachelor's degree in religious education, master's and doctorate degrees in theology and a two-year preaching diploma. Starting in September, the college is offering free tuition to qualified, on-campus students.
