Distance Learning Courses

Ideal education involves personal contact between the teacher and the student. But the ideal is not always possible. Many have a desire for advanced Bible education, but their situation in life hinders them from attending college. Because of location and obligations to work and family, many interested people are unable to attend classes on the campus of Tennessee Bible College.

Does this situation describe you? Perhaps you have wanted to learn more of the Bible for years but you have not had an opportunity to pursue that dream as you would like. You really want to have more Bible knowledge, but you need help. You need someone to guide and to challenge you. You need goals to aim for in your Bible study.

“...you can take in-depth Bible courses in the privacy of your home...”

We can help. Through our Distance Learning program at Tennessee Bible College, you can take in-depth Bible courses in the privacy of your home or office. We will send you the instructions, assignments, and materials, and you decide when and where you will do the work. The materials you will receive include hours of lessons presented by one of our instructors and textbooks you will be able to keep and use for future reference.

The need for Bible knowledge today is great. Our world is filled with ungodly entertainment and false religion. Millions are without the saving truth of the gospel of Christ. Yet the opportunity to learn the Scriptures is right before us, and we at Tennessee Bible College want to open this door to as many as we can. This is why we are offering Distance Learning courses. Tennessee Bible College has always striven to offer education that is solid in the Bible. Our courses are practical in all areas of the Christian life. We have a unique emphasis on Christian evidences and apologetics; courses in these areas are sometimes hard to find. These college-level courses can truly help you in your desire to grow in Bible knowledge.

These courses may be taken for college credit and applied toward a degree from Tennessee Bible College, or they may be taken on a non-credit (audit) basis. In either case, the knowledge you gain will serve you for the rest of your life.

Jesus said, "If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine" (John 7:17), and "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free" (John 8:32). If you want to learn more of the truth, but, like the Ethiopian eunuch, you wonder, "How can I, except some man should guide me?" (Acts 8:31), then Distance Learning is for you.

How to Enroll

The first thing you must decide is whether you want to take these courses for college credit or for audit. If you want to receive college credit, you must apply to the school. To apply to TBC, you must send or have sent to us the following completed forms:

  1. Application form (with $25 fee);
  2. Three character reference forms (filled out and mailed in by three people who know you);
  3. A medical reference form (filled out and sent in by your physician; foreign students who will have no contact hours on the campus of TBC are not required to have this form);
  4. A certified copy of your high school transcript (sent from the school you attended) or a G.E.D.;
  5. An official transcript from any college or university you have attended, sent by the school directly to TBC.

Once we receive these forms you will be enrolled in the Distance Education Department at TBC. We will at that time notify you of your acceptance into the school, and we will send you the information you need on how to get started with your first course.

The cost of a course depends on which program you are in. An undergraduate course of three hours of credit will cost $120 (plus textbooks, if any). The cost of graduate level courses will be $180 per 3-credit hour course (plus textbooks, if any).

If you choose simply to audit a course, the cost is $50 per course. You are not required to go through the application process if you audit courses. Simply contact the school and we will get you started.

You may still have questions about Distance Learning. If so, feel free to call, e-mail, or write.
