Golf can be more than just a game.

Such is the case with Tennessee Bible College’s 24th annual golf scramble on May 28, when area golfers will be swinging their clubs for a good cause.

“We invite friends of the college, folks who just want a nice outing, to join us for a round of golf,” TBC President David Hill said.

The TBC Golf Scramble will take place at RiverWatch Golf Club, 235 Harbor Greens Place, Sparta. Lunch is provided at 11 a.m. A shotgun start will follow at noon. Prizes will be awarded.

Registration is $75 per person or $275 per four-person team. A $5 discount is given to those who register online at www.tn-biblecollege.edu/tbcgolf.

All proceeds go to the operation of TBC.

“This has been a good activity for a number of years,” Hill said. “It has been responsible for well over $50,000 in funds in the college. It’s helped pay for scholarships, it’s helped pay bills for special programs and other things, so it’s very beneficial.”

The scramble takes place every year on the Friday of Memorial weekend.

Long-time participant Brandon Smith of Livingston always looks forward to it.

“It’s a good time for us to get together outside of the auditorium and the classroom to enjoy a little bit of competitiveness and each other’s fellowship,” he said. “I’m proud to have been able to be part of this tournament for more than a decade now, and it’s really grown each and every year.”

TBC, located at 1616 McCulley Road, Cookeville, offers a bachelor of religious education, master’s and doctorate degrees in theology, and a two-year diploma in Bible. For more information, call 931-526-2616 or visit www.tn-biblecollege.edu.
