Every day studying.  This should be a part of each of our lives.  Now, it is good to study various subjects that help us to function in our society.  The more we read, the greater our vocabulary.  The more we read, the more words we learn the meanings of and thereby we can communicate more and more effectively.  Reading is good when we are reading works that are praiseworthy (Philippians 4:8).  We must remember though that the core focus of our study should not be upon just any book, but rather upon the Holy Bible.

Many of us enjoy reading the newspaper.  We enjoy reading good things from the Internet.  Many may enjoy reading secular books.  We should not allow reading other books come in our way of reading the greatest Book of all, the Holy Bible.  It is in the Holy Bible that we have all things that pertain unto how to best live this life and how to go to Heaven (II Peter 1:3, II Timothy 3:16-17).  The secular is only temporary, but the spiritual is eternal (II Corinthians 4:18).

Ecclesiastes 12:13-14 says, “Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.  For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.”

My friends, our focus in this life must be upon pleasing God.  Colossians 3:2 says, “Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.”  We should never “find time” to read secular information from the newspaper, the Internet, or books, and yet not “have time” to read the Holy Bible.  It should be our daily goal as Christians to read God’s Word. After all, this is our spiritual food (Hebrews 5:12-14).  If we “find time” to feed our bellies with physical food, then we ought to “have time” to feed our souls with spiritual food.  We are commanded to study (II Timothy 2:15, I Timothy 4:13).

Reading the Bible every now and then is not good enough.  You should study it every day to be strong and blessed (Psalm 1:1-3, Romans 15:4).  Psalm 1:1-3 says, “Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.  But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.  And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.”  Do you want to be blessed with spiritual strength and in such a way that whatever you do shall prosper as God sees fit?  Then, you need to be a daily Bible reader!
