According to Wikipedia, “education” is, in its general sense, defined as “a form of learning in which knowledge, skills, and habits of a group of people are transferred from one generation to the next through teaching, training, research, or simply auto-didacticism (learning on your own, GBR). Generally, it occurs through any experience that has a formative effect on the way one thinks, feels, or acts.” From the beginning of recorded history teaching and training of each succeeding generation has been accepted as the responsibility of the older generation! From time of old, God’s people were expected to educate their children in the proper way to live (Deut. 6:6-7; Prov. 22:6). Under the New Covenant system we are commanded, “And the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit these to faithful men, who will be able to teach others also” (II Tim. 2:2). While secular education is good and necessary and while all Christian parents want to see that their children are prepared for their life adventure in the world, there is another aspect of education that is more important than the secular part! That most important education relates to the spiritual instruction that comes from the Word of God.
Tennessee Bible College offers her services to instruct men and women in their quest for spiritual education. Presently, Tennessee Bible College offers the BRE degree (Bachelor of Religious Education, a four-year program), the Master of Theology (M.Th.), the Doctor of Theology (Th.D.). Additionally, a Two-Year Diploma is available. This two-year course of study compares to the Associate Degree offered in other institutions.
Higher education, as offered at Tennessee Bible College, requires a certain special commitment by students. The work at TBC is not like the work at preacher training schools, in that TBC students follow College procedures that allow more freedom of choice, but require more personal discipline in their work.
The need for additional Gospel preachers is at an all-time high. It has been observed that fewer men are entering the work of preaching each year than the number that are leaving this work through retirement or death. The Lord’s field of labor is indeed “white unto harvest.” Tennessee Bible College is able to help fill this need. Pray for our Lord’s blessings in this work. Encourage and support men to preach the Gospel and encourage them to study here at TBC. May our prayers always be that our Lord bless all efforts to spread the Gospel throughout the world.
