Faithful in Service: A Tribute to President David Hill

Nov 11, 2025 | Featured

David Hill has been involved in Christian education most of his life. That experience began at home under the guidance and tutelage of his faithful Christian parents, Malcolm and Billie Hill—an education that extended throughout their days on earth. In his younger years, he attended Mars Hill Bible School in Florence, Alabama. While growing up, he had the opportunity to hear and become acquainted with veteran gospel preachers such as B. C. Goodpasture, Gus Nichols, Thomas Warren, and others. He watched as his father established International Bible College (now Heritage Christian University) and Tennessee Bible College. He prepared himself in the area of finance by graduating from Tennessee Technological University with a degree in business and operated a clothing business for several years. He has known and had the privilege of knowing faculty members, staff, and supporters of TBC from its inception.

David Hill, early in his service as Public Relations Director at TBC.

David began his work with TBC in the area of public relations in 1989. He entered the graduate program at TBC and graduated with the M.A. degree in Christian Doctrine and Apologetics in 2009, writing his master’s thesis on a history and analysis of churches of Christ in New England. Since his graduation, he has taught classes on the undergraduate and graduate levels at TBC, made mission trips for TBC to Russia and Africa, and served as an elder at the Northeast Church of Christ in Cookeville, Tennessee, where he is also a full-time minister. This journey has made him uniquely qualified to be a leader in Christian education.

But David has also shown himself to be a man of chosen character. He is longsuffering with people in and outside of the church. He believes in supporting and upholding the hands of those who teach and preach the gospel. He has kept himself pure from the sins of the world in a generation given to ungodliness. He values honesty, loyalty, and humility.

Because of his background in Christian education, he also understands the challenge of planning for the future—and in that area, he excels. First and most importantly, he continually acknowledges the hand of God in this matter. He does not presume to get ahead of God. But he does have a conscientious outlook for the future of TBC and spends much time in prayer and counsel about the next generation—or generations—of TBC personnel, students, and supporters.

As we remember this Veterans Day all those who have served and fought to ensure our liberty, we recognize Malcolm Hill for his service to our country and the service of both he and his son David in the Lord’s army. And on this, his birthday, we give honor to whom honor is due and express our appreciation to David Hill for his leadership in Christian education at TBC. We ask the God of heaven to bless him with good health and a sound mind for many years to come.

Kerry Duke
Vice-President
