David Hill: “If a man won’t work, neither should he eat” (II Thessalonians 3:10). I wonder how that would fit in the politics of today? Hi, David Hill with a Gospel minute. That’s what God said. Work has always been expected and respected by our Creator. From the very beginning, God has expected man to do his part (Genesis 2:15).
The idea of a handout begging didn’t come from God. That reflects the failure of man. Solomon said the joy of life is in the reward of hard work (Ecclesiastes 9:9). In fact, we’re to work with dedication as to that which is good (Ecclesiastes 9:10). Honorable labor is good and good for us. The underpinning of the United States of America has been honest labor.
From where did this come? Founding pilgrims held this principle from God, and it has blessed our nation for nearly 250 years. A Christian should be the example on the job. They should work with all might and rejoice in the blessing of health and opportunity. Jesus said, "be content with your wages." That’s the Gospel.
