The Bible says the love of money, not money itself, causes all kinds of evil. It brings greed, sorrow, and blocks obedience to the Gospel. True joy comes from pursuing righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, and gentleness. Love God completely for peace and fulfillment.

David Hill: Money is the root of all evil, right? Hi, David Hill. Got a minute? No, God didn’t say that. He said the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil (I Timothy 6:10). The love of money will keep one from obeying the Gospel of Christ. It fuels greed in all the evils of greediness and brings on many sorrows. What should life be about? Read the next verse: pursuing righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, and gentleness. These bring satisfaction to life and great blessings from God. Money can’t buy happiness and most certainly will not buy one’s salvation (Acts 8:20). Friends, we live in a greed-filled, wicked world. Why? Because many are in love with money and the pursuit of it, including some who claim to be Christians. Everyone has to have money to exist, but no one should let it control them. Checked your attitude lately? Jesus said, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, and mind” (Matthew 22:37). Receive peace that passes all understanding. That’s the Gospel!
