David Hill: Welcome to A Month in Minutes, where every message from the month meets in one place. One minute, one message, one gospel.

Malcolm Hill: Have you ever been thirsty? You say, “Man, I have been thirsty. Yes, I have.” But, you know, when you think about thirst, there is absolutely nothing that will take care of thirst like water.

God made it that way. God so arranged matters that water is the number one thing that comes to our mind when we think of thirst. Now, water is necessary, so far as I know, for just about everything to live—vegetation, animals, plants, human beings, and so on. All of us have to have water. Now, I don’t know why it is that people reject the water plan, but there’s a plan for a man to be saved in the Bible, and it includes water.

There’s water in God’s plan of salvation. Our Lord said in John 3:1-7, “Except a man be born of water and the Spirit, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” Now, there’s water in the plan. Water baptism’s in the plan of God. I’m Malcolm Hill. This has been One Gospel Minute from the Churches of Christ in your area, where you are always welcome.

Men like to trade, don’t they? Maybe I’m talking to a good trader right now, or a number of good traders. You say, “Yeah, I like to trade. I like to trade on this, that, and the other.” Men like to trade cars. They like to trade trucks. They like to trade knives. Up where I came from, they traded knives on Saturday.

They used to do that. They don’t do it as much as they used to, at least. But they like to trade knives, like to trade houses, like to trade farms. Men like to trade. But, you know, trading’s all right, but I’ll tell you one thing. We’re living in a time when men want to trade their wives. Yeah, that’s right.

You say, “Is that right?” Yeah. Just look around you, and you’ll find that to be true. They want to trade wives. God says you can’t do that. In Matthew 19:4-6, He said that God made them in the beginning male and female. And so we’ve got one man for one woman and one woman for one man, and that’s the way God wants it.

That’s the way He made it. Don’t trade your wife off, your husband off. You may lose your soul. I’m Malcolm Hill. This has been One Gospel Minute from the Churches of Christ in your area, where you are always welcome.

I’ve often observed men leaving God. Do you know of anyone that’s ever left God? Maybe they started out with Him.

But they have ceased to serve Him. They’ve left Him out. And I’ve noticed—have you ever noticed?—that sometimes when people have hard times, and troubles set in, and hardships come upon them, they oftentimes forget the Almighty. They’re pretty well settled when it comes to a smooth ocean and sailing on a smooth sea, but troubles set in, and they forget God.

They blame God for what takes place that’s bad. But God’s a good God, and we need to remember that. God is not the author of sin and suffering. God doesn’t bring that upon men. Romans 5:12 says that the devil does that. So instead of hating God for hardships and problems and troubles, we ought to draw near to God and, well, despise the devil, because he is the author of these things.
