Doctrine Matters
Doctrine is not optional—it’s essential. Scripture teaches that abiding in the doctrine of Christ is the only way to have fellowship with the Father and the Son, and continuing in His word makes us true disciples indeed.
This timeless message was delivered in 1988 by Malcolm Hill, founding President of Tennessee Bible College and the voice behind the original One Gospel Minute radio broadcast. His legacy of faith and dedication to the Word continues to inspire generations today.
Honoring the voice and vision of Malcolm Hill—founder, preacher, and faithful servant of Christ—whose words still guide hearts in truth today.

Malcolm Hill: Many times I hear men talking about religion and some say, “Well, I’ll tell you now that doctrine is very, very important.” Others say, “Why, really and truly, doctrine is not important. It doesn’t make any difference what one believes or accepts in religion so long as one is honest and sincere.” And so some say, “Doctrine is important,” and others say, “Well, it is not important.”
But what say the Scriptures? The Scriptures teach in II John 9-11, “Whosoever transgresseth and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ hath not God, but he that abideth in the doctrine hath both the Father and the Son.” So we are to abide in the doctrine of Christ. That makes it important because it says, if we don’t, we do not have the Father.
In John 8:31, He says, “If you continue in My Word, then are ye My disciples indeed.” And so we’re disciples indeed if we continue in the Word of the Lord. I’m Malcolm Hill. This has been One Gospel Minute from the churches of Christ in your area, where you are always welcome.
