He That Believes and Is Baptized
Jesus taught that baptism is essential for salvation—and this is the Gospel. Though He was without sin, He was baptized to fulfill righteousness and show us the right way. Baptism isn’t just getting into water; it’s a humble act of obedience from a repentant heart that hears, believes, and follows God’s Word. Many offer different ideas, but Jesus made it simple: “He that believes and is baptized will be saved.” When you do this from the heart, He adds you to His church—the saved body, the Kingdom of God. That’s the Gospel—the truth that saves.

David Hill: Jesus said, “He that believes and is baptized will be saved.”
Hi, David Hill with One Gospel Minute. Though without sin, Jesus was baptized to fulfill all righteousness—the right thing to do. The disciples preached what He told them to preach, and that was: baptism saves (Acts 2:38; 1 Peter 3:21).
Now, it’s not just getting into water—no—it’s an act of humble obedience from a penitent heart to the Word of God that is heard, believed, and obeyed. There are many today who oppose baptism. Some suggest other ways. Some suggest that we don’t understand it exactly right. How about we just take it the way Jesus gave it: “He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved.”
And when one does that from a penitent heart after hearing the truth, then Jesus adds you to His church—the Kingdom of God, a part of the saved body (Acts 2:47). That’s the Gospel.
