Something New
People often search for something new, even in matters of worship and service to God. In ancient Athens, people spent their time wanting to hear the latest idea, and our world is much the same today. Yet God has already given us what we need through His word and warns us not to add to it or take away from it. Instead of changing God’s doctrine or the practices He has revealed, we are called to follow His will faithfully and live according to the truth He has given.

David Hill: Today there’s a great appeal for something new. Hi, David Hill with a Gospel Minute. Why something new? I’m talking specifically about worship and service to God. In Acts chapter 17, verse 21, the Bible tells us that the people of Athens of old were given to telling and hearing something new every day.
That’s what they wanted, and I believe our society is much like that. But the Lord God has given to us the things that we need to know in His word, and He says that He thoroughly furnishes us with the word that He has revealed (II Timothy 3:16–17). He also says in Revelation 22:18–19 not to add to His word nor to take from it. Our souls are in jeopardy. Our salvation is threatened by changing the doctrine and changing the practice that He has given us in His word.
So why is it that some want change? Some want it, but God doesn’t. When worshiping and serving Him, do what He says. Follow His will. Do that which is right, and go home to live with Him in heaven someday.
