The Cost of Freedom
Freedom has never come without sacrifice. Throughout the history of this nation, countless men and women have willingly laid down their lives so others might live in liberty. On this Memorial Day episode, we honor those sacrifices while remembering the greater freedom found in Jesus Christ, who gave His life “a ransom for many” (Mark 10:45). As we reflect on the blessings we enjoy, may we never take for granted the cost of freedom—both as Americans and as Christians.

David Hill: Jesus said, “Greater love has no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends” (John 15:13). The history of this great nation is woven together by the blood shed for freedom. Hundreds of thousands of men and women have been willing to give their lives that we might be free. At Tennessee Bible College, we honor those who have given all for our liberty to teach and preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ, who gave His life “a ransom for many” (Mark 10:45).
Our founding president, Malcolm Hill, and Vice President Thomas Warren served, as have several of our students and alumni. On Memorial Day, we remember the sacrifice of those who gave all, and those who, even today, are willing to give all that we might continue to be free. We pray for God’s blessing to continue with the United States of America, that our children and our children’s children might enjoy that which we have enjoyed, and that the Gospel may continue to have free course in this land of the free. Enjoy your freedom!
