The Hour is Coming

What will happen when Christ returns? John 5:28–29 reveals the reality of the resurrection—all who are in the graves will hear His voice, some to eternal life, others to condemnation. It’s not a reign in Palestine, but the end of time.

Malcolm Hill: You know there’s coming a time when all that are in the grave shall hear the voice of our Lord and shall come forth (John 5:28-29). And if you notice, that passage says, “The hour is coming in which all that are in the grave shall hear His voice.” This was the smallest amount of time for which the Greek could account or reckon.

It’s like our saying, “The second is coming when all that are in the dead shall come forth.” There are not going to be two or three resurrections of the literal dead. What is going to happen then, at the resurrection? Well, it’s eternal life or eternal condemnation (II Peter 3:10-13). Read that and notice what it says.

It’s not Christ coming back to Palestine, ruling on David’s literal throne for a thousand years, as the premillennialist teach. It’s the end of time when Jesus returns. I’m Malcolm Hill. This has been One Gospel Minute from the churches of Christ in your area where you are always welcome.
