There Is a Hotter Place
People often talk about the weather—how hot the summers are and how cold the winters can be—but Malcolm Hill reminds us of a place far hotter than any earthly season. Drawing from Luke 16:19–31, he speaks of the rich man who learned too late the reality of eternal punishment. This powerful message urges us to reflect on the state of our souls, remain faithful to God, and be prepared to meet Him in eternity.
Malcolm Hill, Tennessee Bible College’s founding president and the original host of One Gospel Minute, left a lasting legacy of faith and teaching. His dedication to spreading the gospel in clear, powerful messages continues to inspire this podcast today.

Malcolm Hill: Men often talk about the weather. They talk about how cold it is in the wintertime, and they talk about how hot it is in the summertime. They’ve been talking lately about how hot it was and has been during this past summer. And I’ve heard people say, “I just cannot stand the heat. It’s too hot, and I just don’t know how I can bear up under it.”
But I want to tell you something, my friend—there is a hotter place than this awaiting the wicked. And unless a man is a child of God, he can expect to find that place in the after a while. We’ve got to be faithful children of God.
In Luke 16:19-31, we read of the rich man who died, and he found out that there’s a hotter place in the world to come than there is in this life.
So you need to really be thinking about your soul—how it stands, and where it is in the sight of God. You’ve got to be prepared to meet God in the after a while.
I’m Malcolm Hill. This has been One Gospel Minute from the churches of Christ in your area, where you are always welcome.
