Things God Hates

The Bible lists seven things God hates, including pride, lying, murder, wicked schemes, eagerness to do evil, bearing false witness, and causing division among believers (Proverbs 6:16-19). These sins are serious in God’s eyes, even if the world overlooks some of them. Christians are called to avoid these behaviors, love God wholeheartedly, and live faithfully for eternal salvation.

    David Hill: David Hill: Did you know there are some things God hates? There are. The Bible says so. Hi, David Hill. Got a minute? “Six things the Lord hates. Yes, seven are an abomination to Him: a proud look, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans, feet swift to run to evil, a false witness, one who sows discord among the brethren” (Proverbs 6:16-19). If God hates it, I’d better stay away from it. Ought to capture our attention, shouldn’t it? But it seems like it doesn’t always do so.

    We live in a culture that seems to glorify lying. Remember friend, God hates a lie, and the Bible says all liars are going to hell (Revelation 21:8). Seventh in Solomon’s list: one who sows discord among the brethren. Sinful trouble in the Lord’s church, dividing the body of Christ, is a very serious problem. Most seem to understand the wrong of murder, but God places a proud look, [lying tongue, and divider of the church on the same list with one who sheds innocent blood. Where do these sins come from? The devil, who is the father of it, Jesus said. Things God hates—I don’t want to be involved in those, and I don’t think you do either. Love the Lord with all your heart. Live for Him all your life and be saved eternally. That’s the gospel.
