Troubling times over the past year have set the stage for a lecture series that will focus on comfort.
Tennessee Bible College’s annual Renew Lectureship is scheduled for Feb. 27 and 28 at Northeast Church of Christ, 450 Grandview Dr. The theme is “Let Not Your Heart be Troubled.”
“Our faculty felt like John 14:1 is an area that needs to be addressed,” TBC President David Hill said. “Our hearts need to be comforted. We need the comfort that we can get from the words of Jesus.”
Hill encourages interested individuals to mark their calendars and make plans to attend.
“The one thing that has changed is we will not be starting on Friday night,” he said. “This will be a Saturday and Sunday event.”
Eight speakers (to be announced) will address different topics having to do with comfort that can be obtained from the words of Jesus.
A mission work will be spotlighted. The annual Friends of Tennessee Bible College fundraising dinner will be held as well.
More details will be announced closer to the time of the event.
Hill said the goal of the lectureship — the first of which took place in 1978 — is to encourage church leaders, church members and anyone else interested in spiritual matters.
“We always want to be a resource for churches and individuals, and that’s what this lecture program provides,” he said. “It renews us spiritually. So we’ll be following that as we look into what faith in God is all about and the comfort we get from the Savior, Jesus Christ.”
