This year’s theme was chosen in part because of the year—50 years of earthen vessels teaching other such vessels to teach and preach the gospel of Christ. The lessons are centered around the text (II Corinthians 4:7-8), but encompass the chapter in reminding that all in Christ—the church—are called out of the world into the glory of God by the gospel of Jesus Christ.
The event will be hosted by both TBC and the Northeast congregation and will begin with TBC’s longest-tenured faculty member Glenn Ramsey tying together this year of jubilee for TBC with the “Treasure We Have” from Christ. Each year for many years now, RENEW has featured a mission area with this year’s being stateside missions and Ramdeo Ramdeen, missionary in Loris, South Carolina, will speak on “The Excellency of the Power of God.” One of TBC’s oldest, going back to the beginning of the College, alumnus Charles Browning will be the keynote speaker on Saturday. Sunday will be a cooperative effort between TBC and the Northeast congregation with all sessions in the Northeast auditorium. The focus of the material on Sunday will be the challenges and hope in Christ. Those speaking Sunday have a Northeast connection in that Jim Sanders of Tullahoma, Tennessee was assisted in school by support from the congregation and Derrick Stiles of McMinnville preached his first sermon at Northeast while attending as a member. Both are graduated alumni of the College and will speak on the topics “Perplexed but Not in Despair” [Sanders] and “Persecuted Not Forsaken” [Stiles].
All speakers this year will be limited to TBC alumni as the invited guest participants. It is now a two-day event with several activities connected including the RENEW Singing, and some great food to eat. For more information, visit this link.
Everyone is invited! It’s one of the highlights of the TBC year, and a kick off to this year’s 50th anniversary—jubilee celebration.
