Scriptures emphasize the importance of repentance for salvation. It’s a challenge to inspire this change, but by preaching God’s benevolence and strictness, we can guide people. God’s goodness should be enough to make us obey, and His severity is a stern warning. So, are you ready to repent to avoid eternal punishment?

David Hill: Here’s a throwback for you.

Malcolm Hill: You know man must repent of his sins in order to be saved? Act 17:30 says, “And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now He commands all men everywhere to repent.” Jesus said, “Except you repent, you shall all likewise perish” (Luke 13:3). It is very hard to bring men to repentance.

Now, how do we do that? How do we bring them to repentance? Well, by preaching the goodness of God. You think about how good God has been to all of us, has been to you. And how in the world can you turn Him down and turn away from Him? You ought to appreciate Him enough to obey His gospel. And then we cause men to come to repentance by preaching the severity of God.

God’s going to send some souls to hell, and they’ll burn eternally for disobeying His law and not following His precepts to the fullest of one’s ability. So I ask you, are you going to repent? I pray you’re going to repent before you perish eternally. I’m Malcolm Hill. This has been One Gospel Minute from the churches of Christ in your area, where you are always welcome.
