How to Study the Bible

About This Course

The Bible is meant to be understood. Yet many sincere students of Scripture struggle with difficult passages and challenging statements found throughout God’s Word. Why did Paul say Christ did not send him to baptize? What did Jesus mean when He spoke of eating His flesh and drinking His blood? Who is Lucifer in the book of Isaiah? Questions like these have often led to confusion, speculation, or reliance on human explanations.

This course is built on a simple but powerful premise: the Bible is the best interpreter of the Bible. The textbook for this course is the Bible itself. Students will study selected passages of Scripture and be trained to use different levels of context to gain clearer understanding of the text. By learning to let Scripture explain Scripture, students will come to appreciate the old adage, “The best commentary on the Bible is the Bible.”

But this course is not merely about answering difficult questions or mastering a method of study. It is about developing confidence in handling God’s Word and growing in faith. The exercises are designed to be challenging but not overwhelming, requiring no Bible software or reference library—only your Bible and a willingness to study carefully. As students progress, they will grow in their understanding of Scripture and in their appreciation for the beauty, unity, and power of God’s Word, gaining deeper insight into God’s will for their lives.
