Serving Together as a Family in Peru

In March, Tennessee Bible College student Jordan Danner returned to Huancayo, Peru—a place that had already left a lasting impression on his heart and called him back for further work in the gospel. Having first traveled there last July, the experience continued to shape his faith, his family, and his direction in the months that followed. Not a single day passed without him thinking or speaking about the church there, and before leaving Huancayo, he resolved that if God allowed, he would return—this time bringing his family with him. That resolve became reality as the Danner family was able to serve together in Peru.

The impact of this mission was evident in the hearts of Jordan’s children, who were eager to be part of the work. Korah shared that she wanted to learn “more about the people there, their language, and how they live,” and was excited to see what the church is like in another country. Karoline expressed her hope for the trip simply: “I hope we get to meet a lot of new people and help them learn the Word. I want to help them understand that everybody needs God in their lives.” Their sister, Klara Sue, summed up her excitement by looking forward to “meeting new people, going to church in Peru, and teaching people how to get to heaven.” Their words reflected a growing understanding of the gospel and a sincere desire to share it with others.

Jordan noted that this work has reshaped his entire family’s trajectory. The experience strengthened them spiritually and drew them closer together, while deepening their commitment to learning, teaching, and evangelism. He and his wife, Rachael, have become more intentional in their study of God’s Word and more zealous in sharing it with others. What began as a mission effort has become a defining influence on their family’s purpose and priorities.

During their time in Peru, the work continued in meaningful ways. Rachael assisted Audrey Goshorn, wife of Daniel Goshorn—a Tennessee Bible College student and now a full-time missionary in Peru—in women’s Bible studies, both individually and in group settings. Audrey also leads an active work in a women’s prison, where several have obeyed the gospel, and Rachael was able to take part in that effort. Jordan preached during worship services and taught in congregational Bible studies, while also working alongside Daniel in home studies throughout Huancayo and surrounding villages. He also had the opportunity to speak at the Huancayo Police Academy.

As the Danner family returned home, they did so strengthened by the work and encouraged by the brethren they served alongside. Their experience stands as a reminder that when families commit themselves to the gospel, the impact reaches far beyond a single place or moment.
