The Power is in the Word of God

Every Bible sermon preached and every Bible lesson taught ought to be full of Scripture.  Every Christian ought to know the Scriptures.  This is one reason why it is so important to study the Scriptures daily to be blessed as Psalm 1 describes and II Timothy 2:15 teaches.

We must also remember that the Word of God is where the power is.  Romans 1:16 says, “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”  Hebrews 4:12 informs us that the Word of God is powerful and living.  If people are going to be truly converted, it will not be through the use of good words and fair speeches that deceive the hearts, but rather through the living Gospel.  The fact that the Gospel is not a dead letter, ought to keep us positive.

Also, we must remember that the same seed that is sown produces different results, depending on the hearers’ hearts.  The good and sincere heart is the one in which great results will be produced.  Luke 8:11 tells us, “The seed is the word of God.”  We ought to prepare the ground, that is, our hearts to receive the Word openly and then to handle it rightly.

Another fact that ought to keep us motivated is the principle of sowing and reaping.  The Word of God will not return unto us void.  II Corinthians 9:6 says, “But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully.”

John 4:37 says, “One sows and another reaps.”  It is true that those who sow do not always witness the reaping that may one day occur.  This ought to encourage every Gospel preacher and every Bible class teacher who has poured their hearts into trying to change some lost soul.  Do not give up hope in them.  As long as breath remains in them, they may change!  Just keep preaching.  Just keep teaching.  Just keep hoping.  Just keep praying.

Let us fulfill the Great Commission given in Matthew 28:18-20.  Let us meditate upon God’s Word day and night.  Let us always remember that the power is in the Word!
