While earthly things change, Scripture remains constant and unchanging. Some believe that God’s Word should adapt to modern times, but this view contradicts biblical authority. The Bible provides wisdom, good doctrine, and satisfies the human longing for truth. Using King David’s example of studying and practicing God’s Word, we can experience life-changing guidance.

David Hill: Earthly things change, but the things of God do not (Psalm 102:26-27). God’s Word, the truth endures forever (Psalm 105). Some today hold the view, whether stated or practiced, that the Word of God must change with the times. This view is not supported by God’s authority. Wisdom, true and timeless, comes from God (II Timothy 3:15). God’s Word is the sure thing, and Jesus said you can know it (John 8:32). It’s real value is thus profitable, containing doctrine (John 7:17). Instruction from God— not just any doctrine, good doctrine (I Timothy 4:6). The Word of God completes man. It satisfies the longing to know the truth (Psalm 119:99). King David surpassed all his teachers in that he studied, meditated on, considered, and practiced the Word of God. By and through this practice, we can and will receive life-changing guidance (II Timothy 3:16). That’s the gospel.
