What is expected of me? A favorite teacher of mine once answered, “Our life should be lived in praise to God.” In whatever place we find ourselves, let’s live in praise to our creator God (Ecc. 12:13). Praising God involves knowing His Word and following it, allowing Christ and His Word to reside within us daily.

David Hill: Remembering college days and a fellow student asking one of my all time favorite teachers this question, what is expected of me? Dr. Carol Ellis quickly responded, “Our life should be lived in praise to God.” In whatever place we find ourselves, we should live in praise to our creator God. Ecclesiastes 12 and verse 13 says, “Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God and keep His commandments for this is the whole of man.” So to praise God, we must know God’s Word and do what He says. Jesus describes it as love. “If you love me, you’ll keep my commandments.” Which ones? The ones I like? No, that would be loving me more than Him. Love and obedience demands that we keep the Lord’s commands to the best of our ability.

Praising God means letting Christ and His Word live in you every day. How about it? Are you living in praise to God? Your life will surely show it! That’s the gospel!
