Studying the Bible should be something that is done every day.  II Timothy 2:15 says, “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”  Brethren, except during times of fasting, we partake of physical food every day, do we not?  What about our spiritual food?  This is God’s Word.  Are we partaking of it every day?  Our Lord has told us in John 6:63, “It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.”  If we want to be more like our Lord by Whose Example we are commanded to follow in I Peter 2:21-25, then we ought to say as He did, “My meat is to do the will of him that sent me . . .”

We ought to be meditating on the Word of God each and every day.  Psalm 1 says, “Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.  But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.  And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.  The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away.  Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.  For the LORD knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.”  Friends, if you want to be like that strong tree whose leaf did not wither and whatsoever he did prospered, then you need to meditate on God’s Word daily, both day and night.

My friends, when you study and meditate, remember to rightly divide the Word of God for it is the Gospel of Jesus Christ by which you will be judged (Colossians 2:14, James 1:25).  Jesus says in John 12:48, “He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.”

Each and every day, let us be reading and understanding the Bible.  Ephesians 5:17 says, “Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.”  Be like a Berean!  Search the Scriptures daily (Acts 17:11).  Cherish the Word of God in your heart each and every day!  My friends, it is the Truth that shall make you free.  Read it.  Understand it.  Meditate upon it.  Obey it!
